Watermelon Shoot!
Saturday, August 14th
A watermellon shoot is scheduled for Saturday, August 14th. This small bore event (.22 caliber rifle) with 2 age categories, 10-17 and 18 and over, will certainly seperate the men from the boys. The entry fee is $3.00. All interested club members are requested to participate. Thanks for Ken McGowan for this great idea that should be loads of fun!
Land Use
Tree Harvesting to Begin
Tree harvesting season has started at the Nimrod Club. Marking of the trees to be harvested has begun and members of the club are reminded that the rifle range will be closed while this work is being performed. This year, along with verbal and written warnings, three "Rifle Range Closed" signs will be posted in conspicuous places reminding all that may enter when the range is not to be used. This is obviously for the safety of any loggers who may be working in the area.
Revenue Committee
The Club Needs Your Help!
Filling the revenue position to allow members to brainstorm as to how we can enhance the free cash account is no longer on the table. Ken McGowan has come forward with an interest in leading our club, his first event is the scheduled watermellon shoot. Thanks to Ken for stepping up and offering the first suggestion that is sure to enhance revenue streams to our club.

In the past, our annual spending has continually been augmented by investment dividends which can be a dangerous practice and inhibits club growth. Nobody is being asked to reinvent the wheel here. Other clubs and organizations generate monies successfully by hosting events. So keep an eye out for any fund raiser that looks promising. Let's all pitch in and help Ken, his crew, and the club!
Membership
250 Members and Counting!
The membership drive may be over but members are still coming in. We are now approaching 250 members. Word is finally getting out that the Nimrod League of Holden is the place for serious sportsmen and women to practice and develop their prowess. As we approach our membership cap of 300 members, diversified club interests continue to appear. Pistol and long gun enthusiast numbers are at their highest as well as the staples that our club is best known for; trap, skeet, and archery.

Last year was a huge success regarding membership growth. It was great to see everyone pitching in by introducing neighbors, friends, and relatives to Nimrod. Local towns' sportsmen and sportswomen with their youthful ideas continue to be a way to invigorate our club.
Birds
435 Birds To Be Sprung From Jail
This upland bird season the Nimrod League is scheduled to receive 435 birds from the jail. This is down from last year's alotment by 34. Spencer has recently joined the program and each club is contributing 34 birds to their count. Improvements made at the jail to protect the chicks from predators and weather should actually increase the count, but yet to be seen.

Kevin Chviruk continues to clean up the grounds to prepare the club property for the impending bird season. Please pitch in if you can as many hands make the work easier. Contact Kevin (508-792-2047) or plan to come out to the club on Sunday mornings and put in a few hours of work.
Kitchen
Volunteers Needed
Bob Hokanson is seeking volunteers to cook the Oct, Nov, and Dec meals during the membership meetings. If you're able to help, please contact Bob (508-869-2984).
Condolences
Clark Abysalh
Clark Abysalh was a long time member of the Nimrod League of Holden and will be missed by all that knew him. Clark held the club close to his heart and was dedicated to making it a great place for all sportsmen and sportswomen. Clark sat on many committees and boards and greatly increased our visibility amongst local clubs by representing us proudly for many years at the Worcester County League of Sportsmen. Clark enjoyed upland hunting and was a strong supporter of our bird program. Members are encouraged to send donations to the Mercy Center on West Chester Ave in Clark's name per his wishes. We'll certainly miss you old friend! >>>
