Trap Chairman - Dave Fillow (508)829-9265
Announcement: Spring Ham Shoot will be held April 13th. 8:00 a.m until End. Public Welcome!
Trap shooting is held every Thursday night from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. and is open to the public. We have two trap fields. Price: $3.00 per game consisting of 25 shots. 71/2 shot and smaller allowed.
Never Shot Trap before?
Not a problem. Don't be intimidated, simply stop on down and ask for some help, our members are more than willing to help out new trap shooters. The game basically consists of taking 5 shots at 5 different positions along the trap field (25 shots total). You get credit for each clay pigeon ("bird") you break. After the individual in the first position has taken his 5th shot the person scoring will announce "end" signalling the end of the first round. After you take your 5th shot do not load your gun, because after the person in the 5th position has finished his 5th shot the person scoring will announce "change" meaning the group walks to the next position on the field and we never walk with a loaded gun. After the group has rotated to the next position, the person who was in position five and has moved to position one will announce "ready" indicating to the group that it is okay to commence the game.
Equipment You Will Need:
- Shotgun (any gauge will do, but 12 gauge is the standard)
- Ammunition (we only allow size 7 1/2 and smaller shot)
- Pouch or Vest (to carry your ammunition)
- Eye Protection
- Ear Protection

Ham/Turkey Shoot Rules
Q: What is a "Ham/Turkey Shoot"?
A "Ham/Turkey Shoot" is actually a trap shooting event. Actual animals are not the target. Various trap events are held, and based on the premise of the various games, prizes are awarded to the winners of the events. We do award a fair amount of frozen hams & turkeys, given the timing of the event, hence the name "Ham/Turkey Shoot".
Q: I am not a very good trap shooter, or haven't shot in awhile, do I need to be a good shot to participate?
No. Luck has as much to do with this event as skill. There are several differently colored clay pigeons loaded into the trap machine. Most of the games are based on the number of colored pigeons you knock down. Of course it helps if you can knock down more clay pigeons, but it is completely random at how many of the colored clays are tossed up for you. Many experienced trapshooters have gone home empty handed, while a novice trapshooter will return home with a car full of frozen turkeys and prizes.

Q: I have never shot trap before, but am interested in learning more about it.
Great! We encourage people to learn more about this wonderful sport, and want to help you further your interests. Feel free to come to the Turkey Shoot and introduce yourself to one of the members. Tell them that you would like some instruction and we would be more than happy to provide it to you. We have many very experienced shooters who would enjoy the opportunity to assist you. You can also attend our regular trap shooting events also open to the public and held every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Q: Does it cost anything to participate?
Yes. There are nominal fees for each game you participate in. The rates depend on the type of game, and prize offered, but it is typically only between $3 to $5 per game.
